Non-clinical FAQs
Can I book a consultation without a diagnosis or scan?
Yes, of course. You don’t need a diagnosis or scans before seeing Chris. At your consultation, he’ll take time to understand your symptoms and decide whether imaging is actually needed. In many cases, pain can be related to muscles or joints and may be better managed with physiotherapy or other non-surgical treatments.
Can you help me arrange a scan?
Absolutely. If imaging is needed, our team can help organise this for you. Once the results are available, Chris will go through them with you, explain what they mean in clear terms, and talk you through the most appropriate treatment options.
How long is a consultation?
Consultations are unhurried and designed to give you plenty of time to talk through your symptoms, concerns and goals. Chris believes in listening carefully, so you can leave feeling informed, reassured and clear about what happens next.
I already have scans, can I send them over?
Sure thing. If you have previous scans or reports, you’re welcome to share them with the team ahead of your appointment so Chris can review them in advance.
How much do treatments cost?
Costs vary depending on your medical history and the type of treatment recommended. We work with all major insurance providers, and our team can help answer any questions about fees or cover.
Clinical FAQs
What happens in a consultation?
Chris will review your scans with you (if you have them) and explain how they relate to your symptoms. Together, you’ll discuss an individualised treatment plan that takes into account your condition, lifestyle and priorities.
Chris follows an ‘only operate when needed’ approach and will guide you through the pros and cons of each option.
How do I know if I need surgery for my pain?
Surgery is never the default option. Many spinal conditions can be managed successfully without surgery, and conservative treatments are always explored first. Surgery is usually considered only when symptoms are persistent, worsening, or having a significant impact on your daily life, sleep or work.
What happens on the day of surgery?
You’ll arrive at the hospital on the day of your operation and be welcomed by the nursing team. Chris will see you beforehand to answer any last-minute questions and confirm the plan. You’ll also meet the anaesthetist to discuss anaesthesia and pain control.
After surgery, you’ll be closely monitored in recovery, with your comfort carefully managed. A physiotherapist will usually see you the same day or the following day, and Chris will explain how everything went and what to expect next.
What support do I get after surgery?
You won’t be on your own. You’ll have ongoing access to Chris and the specialist team if any concerns arise. While in hospital, specialist nurses and physiotherapists will support your recovery. After discharge, you’ll be closely followed up by the same team, and Chris will see you multiple times to ensure your recovery stays on track.
